Peruvian President Jose Jeri oversees the destruction of more than 8,200 confiscated firearms at the National Directorate of Special Operations (DINOES) in Lima. The weapons, seized during nationwide police operations, include pistols, revolvers and shotguns. After being crushed, the metal remnants will be sent to Chimbote for melting and recycling into playground equipment and mini gyms — turning tools of violence into symbols of community renewal.
