“Nobel For Trump, if DRC War Ends” | Firstpost Africa | N18G
DR Congo President Felix Tshisekedi has said that a U.S.-brokered peace deal with Rwanda has failed to bring peace to the ground. Speaking at the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, Tshisekedi thanked President Donald Trump for his efforts but stressed that lasting peace will depend on actions in eastern Congo. He also warned that the country’s mineral resources “are not for auction.” The region continues to face violence from M23 rebels, while NGOs report murder, kidnapping, rape, and mass displacement. Tshisekedi stated that the success of the deal requires Rwanda to cease supporting rebel groups.
