Anti-government protests continue to rock Morocco, fuelled by the deaths of at least three demonstrators and mounting public outrage. The group leading the protests, GenZ 212, has demanded the dismissal of the government led by Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch. Young Moroccans have called for crucial reforms in the health and education sectors, criticising the government for spending billions on 2030 FIFA World Cup preparations , while neglecting essential services. Recent reports of eight pregnant women dying at a public hospital in Agadir have further inflamed the situation. Despite the prime minister’s offer of dialogue to address the demands, demonstrators remain unconvinced. Hundreds have been arrested as protests in major cities like Salé turn violent, though GenZ 212 has distanced itself from the vandalism and urged peaceful demonstrations.
