#Firstpost LIVE: India Test Fires Nuclear Capable Agni-5 Ballistic Missile; Can Cover Over 5,000 Kilometres
India successfully test-fired the Agni-5 intermediate-range ballistic missile on Wednesday from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur, in the state of Odisha. The Ministry of Defence said the launch validated all operational and technical parameters. Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the Agni-5 is a nuclear-capable ballistic missile with a range of over 5,000 kilometres. It is the most advanced missile in the Agni series and can carry a nuclear warhead of up to 1.5 tonnes. Additionally, it is built with lightweight composite materials, enhancing its efficiency and reliability. The Agni-5 is also equipped with Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) technology, allowing a single missile to strike multiple targets.
