Japan: Massive Fire Burns Over 170 Houses in Oita City | N18G

A huge fire swept through a neighbourhood in Oita’s Saganoseki district in southwestern Japan on Tuesday evening, destroying at least 170 buildings. The blaze broke out around 5:40 PM on November 18, forcing at least 175 residents to leave their homes and take shelter. Authorities say one person is still unaccounted for as firefighters continue their efforts. By Wednesday morning, the flames had not yet been fully contained and had already reached nearby forested areas. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by Japan’s disaster management officials.
