India is reportedly in advanced talks with Russia for a $1.1 billion defence deal to acquire missiles for the Indian Air Force’s “Sudarshan” S-400 air defence system. The proposal is expected to be reviewed at the next Defence Acquisition Council meeting on October 23. The S-400, also known as Sudarshan Chakra, played a key role during Operation Sindoor, where it was credited with downing Pakistani aircraft. Both nations are also exploring upgrades to the BrahMos missile and new air-to-air systems. The discussions come ahead of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s expected visit to India in December to review defence cooperation.
