A cloudburst hit the north Indian state of Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, triggering flash floods and landslides. According to reports, two people are missing and one is feared trapped. The cloudburst caused debris to sweep through homes, shops and vehicles. The rainfall inundated roads, affecting traffic movement. The NDRF, SDRF and the Indian Army are carrying out rescue operations. Chamoli police said many locals have been evacuated from their homes. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said he is closely monitoring the situation. The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert in Uttarakhand for heavy rainfall till August 25.
