India is celebrating its 79th Independence Day today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the beginning of the day by offering flowers at the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat in New Delhi. Ahead of the address at the Red Fort, PM Modi extended greetings on social media. He tweeted on X, hoping that this day inspires the Indian to keep working harder to realise the dreams of the freedom fighters and build a developed India. The theme of the 79th Independence Day of India is “New India”. PM Modi began the celebration by hoisting the Indian flag at the Red Fort. PM Modi addressed Operation Sindoor as an expression of India’s outrage. He said that after april 22nd , the armed forces had been given a free hand to decide the strategy, target, and timing of their operations. Modi stated that the forces carried out unprecedented actions, entered deep into enemy territory, and destroyed terrorist headquarters. He added that the destruction in Pakistan had been so extensive that new revelations and information continued to emerge daily.
