#FirstpostNews: Indian Air Force Bids Farewell To Mig-21 Fighter Aircraft Fleet | N18G
India’s Air Force bid farewell to its iconic MiG-21 jets, marking the end of over six decades of service. First inducted in the early 1960s, the supersonic fighter and interceptor played a pivotal role in the 1965 and 1971 wars with Pakistan, the 1999 Kargil conflict, and the 2019 Balakot airstrikes. The final batch of MiG-21s from Squadron 23, the “Panthers,” was decommissioned at Chandigarh, where the jets were first inducted.
The ceremony, attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and the heads of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, featured a flypast and a water cannon salute.
