#Firstpost DR Congo Massacre: ADF Rebels Kill At Least 52 With Machetes | N18G

Islamic State-linked Allied Democratic Forces rebels killed at least 52 civilians in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, UN and local officials said. Armed with machetes and hoes, the group attacked villages in Beni and Lubero between August 9 and 16. Authorities said the killings were revenge after recent army defeats of the ADF. About 30 people died in Melia village alone. The UN peacekeeping mission condemned the violence, calling it one of the deadliest recent rebel assaults.
