Federal Bank reported a strong Q2 with the highest ever net interest income and NIM improving to 3.06%, supported by lower cost of deposits, CRR cuts, and balance sheet optimization. Asset quality is at a decadal best with slippages declining to 0.94% and credit cost down to 50 bps, while microfinance accounts remain under 1.7% of the book. Fee income reached a record ₹886 crore with 13% growth, driven by para-banking, treasury, and cards. CASA ratio improved to 31%+, and targeted growth is ~1.2x nominal GDP, focusing on high-return segments like commercial banking, retail gold, and cars. Early signs of GST rate cut benefits are supporting retail demand, indicating a sustainable growth trajectory for the bank in the coming quarters.
