Eyewitness News ABC7NY Barack Obama Surprises Veterans Aboard Honor Flight to DC

Former US President Barack Obama surprised a plane full of veterans and their families as they arrived in Washington ahead of Veterans Day.

The “honor flight” was carrying veterans and their families to the nation’s capital on Saturday. Upon the flight’s landing, Obama boarded the plane and addressed its passengers.

Footage released on November 11 shows the former president thanking each individual for their service as they landed. The video also shows the vets receiving applause from an awaiting crowd at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Arlington.

“I was honored to welcome a flight of veterans and their families as they arrived in DC,” Obama wrote on X. “To all those who bravely served our country, thank you to you and your family for your extraordinary service. The sacrifices that all of you have made to protect our country will be honored, today and every day.”

In a post on his personal blog, the former president said he gave each veteran a Presidential Challenge Coin.
