Exclusive: Finland’s President Defends India’s Right to Buy Russian Oil | Palki Sharma | N18G
In an exclusive interview with Firstpost Managing Editor Palki Sharma, Finland’s President Alexander Stubb said India shouldn’t be the only one blamed for buying Russian oil. His remarks follow the US decision to impose 25% punitive tariffs on Indian exports, despite China and Europe continuing energy trade with Russia. President Stubb said the decision to buy Russian oil is entirely India’s own. “India is a big player, an independent actor. It decides what’s best for its foreign policy,” he said. He added, “Without oil and gas exports, Russia will not be able to afford to conduct this war, but I am not going to blame India, I am going to blame all of us collectively. India is not the only one to blame here.”
