Europe’s Embarrassing Moment: ‘Pregnant AI Minister’ Comment Steals Show, EC Dodges US-China Issue
In Brussels, European Commission spokesperson Olof Gill congratulated Albania’s AI minister, Diella, after Prime Minister Edi Rama announced the world’s first “AI minister” is ‘pregnant’ with 83 digital assistants to help with parliamentary and administrative tasks. Diella, launched in January, supports users on the e-Albania platform. Gill also declined to comment on US-China trade talks, saying the EU remains focused on its own bilateral discussions with Beijing. This comes ahead of EU-China trade talks on rare earth minerals, following a rare earth supply deal signed between Donald Trump and Xi Jinping.
