‘Discoloured water in northern parishes safe to drink’
The question of water quality in the north was raised during a news conference by the Barbados Water Authority, specifically the brown colour.
Reporters were told by a water quality technologist that, despite the colour of the water, it is safe to drink.
Jacoby Greaves says the water at present falls within the World Health Organisation’s standard and will not cause any health issues.
Director of Engineering at the Barbados Water Authority, Charles Leslie, says the company has brought in experts from overseas to test the water quality in the north.
He says it has been a joint effort across departments to address the issue, with extensive testing conducted and overseas specialists assisting in understanding how best to tackle the problem.
