Decorative Festival Structure Part Of Mahashivratri Celebration Collapses Onto Electric Wires #NDTV

Panic prevailed in the Kakumanu Bazaar area of Narasaraopet town in Palnadu district after a decorative festival structure part of mahashivratri celebration suddenly collapsed onto an electric pole, injuring three children.

The incident took place in Kakumanu Bazaar under the limits of Narasaraopet when “Prabha” a temporary decorative structure erected as part of festival celebrations fell unexpectedly and crashed onto a nearby electricity pole. The impact created panic in the busy market area.

Three children who were playing nearby sustained injuries in the mishap. Locals immediately rushed to the spot and shifted the injured children to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable.

Eyewitnesses said the structure appeared unstable even before the incident. However, the exact cause of the collapse is yet to be ascertained. Authorities are expected to conduct an inquiry to ascertain whether poor installation, weak support, or adverse weather conditions led to the accident.

Power supply in the locality was temporarily disrupted as a precautionary measure following the incident.

Electricity staff later inspected the damaged pole and restored the supply after ensuring safety.

Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collapse.
