In India, around 50 fishing boats from Andhra Pradesh remained anchored at Odisha’s Gopalpur port in Ganjam district as Cyclone Montha intensified over the Bay of Bengal. High waves lashed coastal areas, and officials closed Kakinada’s beach road after damage to an 8-km stretch. The IMD forecast heavy to very heavy rain in parts of Jharkhand till October 31, while Montha moved closer to the Andhra coast with wind speeds touching 100 kmph.
