FTC Commissioner Rebecca Kelly Slaughter on Trump firing attempt
FTC Commissioner Rebecca Kelly Slaughter, in response to President Donald Trump’s attempt to fire her, said on Friday that the government’s independent agencies are at risk of being “transformed into political actors” if the president is allowed to move forward with firing her.

President Trump asked the Supreme Court to allow him to fire Slaughter, who lower courts ordered reinstated after he terminated her.

Slaughter told CNBC that the president is looking to “defy 90 years of Supreme Court precedent and clear congressional law” by attempting to remove a commissioner of a federal executive agency.
