CNA Venezuelan opposition leader Machado vows to return home; VP Rodriguez sworn in as acting president
Venezuela’s opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, who is also the winner of last year’s Nobel Peace Prize, has vowed to return home as soon as possible. She has lauded the capture of former leader Nicolás Maduro as a “huge step for humanity, for freedom and human dignity”. Speaking in her first televised interview since the extraction of the now-deposed president, the 58-year-old declared her movement is ready to win a free election. Meanwhile, former Vice President Delcy Rodriguez has been sworn in as Venezuela’s acting president. Jagruti Dave reports from Washington DC.
