CNA US Senate takes first step to ending longest closure by advancing funding bill
Hopes are rising for an end to the longest-ever US government shutdown. In a rare Sunday session, senators advanced a funding bill that will last until the end of January. The vote passed by a 60-40 margin, the minimum needed to overcome a Senate filibuster. The 40-day shutdown has sidelined federal workers and delayed food aid and air travel in the country.
