Taipei knife attack: Suspect had no income, relied on financial support from his mother

Parents of the suspect accused of a deadly stabbing rampage in Taiwan have apologised, pledging full cooperation with investigators. The incident left four people — including the suspect — dead and 11 others injured. Chang Wen’s parents knelt outside a funeral parlour where his autopsy was conducted, expressing remorse for the 27-year-old’s actions. Chang was unemployed and relied on family support. Investigators said he rented an apartment near the main station earlier this year and scouted the area before the attack. Meanwhile, Taiwan authorities have raised security on the island to its highest level in years. Victoria Jen reports.
