South Korea passes controversial anti-fake news bill

South Korea’s parliament has passed a controversial new law targeting the spread of false and manipulated information online. The legislation allows courts to impose heavy financial penalties on media outlets and online content creators who intentionally spread disinformation. The Democratic Party passed the bill despite strong backlash from the main opposition People Power Party, which called it a “super gag law”. Lim Yun Suk reports from Seoul.
