CNA Singapore’s Economic Strategy Review committee recommends shift towards AI-empowered economy

Singapore has unveiled a highly anticipated mid-point update on a refresh of its economy. Led by Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong and acting ministers Jeffrey Siow and David Neo, the Economic Strategy Review committee engaged more than 1,800 stakeholders and came up with seven recommendations that cover growth and labour policies. One recommendation is a shift towards what the committee calls an AI-empowered economy, which aims to position Singapore as a global leader in the sector. It also covers a national AI workforce strategy to ensure growth remains inclusive and opportunities are widely shared. The five ESR committees will continue their engagements and a final report is expected in mid-2026. Sherlyn Seah reports.
