CNA Singapore pawnshops disbursed more than S$5b in loans in H1 2025, highest in a decade

Pawnshops in Singapore disbursed more than S$5 billion in loans in the first half of last year, the highest in the same period over the past decade. The Singapore Pawnbrokers’ Association says this was fuelled by rising gold prices and stronger appetite for liquidity. Some operators say their customers now also include younger people in their late 20s to 40s turning to pawnbroking for quick access to cash, especially to support business needs.
