CNA Secondary schools to ban smartphones during all school hours, including recess, CCA

From 2026, secondary school students in Singapore will not be allowed to use their smartphones and smartwatches during school hours, and that includes recess and CCA time.

“Bedtime” lock on personal learning devices will also be brought forward from 11pm to 10.30pm.

The Ministry of Education (MOE) says the changes are to nurture healthier screen use habits among students.
