Rules of war ‘increasingly abandoned’ in Middle East conflict: MSF president

Nearly a month into the Iran war, the humanitarian crisis is intensifying across the region, with over 1,400 reportedly killed in Iran and more than a million displaced in Lebanon. Javid Abdelmoneim, international president of Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF), describes the situation as “alarming”, with attacks on hospitals and healthcare systems coming under severe strain across multiple countries. He tells CNA’s Asia Now that repeated displacement is cutting off access to basic care, forcing MSF to deploy mobile clinics and distribute essentials like food and water. Abdelmoneim also expresses deep concern over the increasing disregard for international humanitarian law, particularly the protection of civilians and healthcare facilities.
