River Valley fire: 18 people recognised for helping save lives
18 people were recognised by Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) for helping to save lives when a fire broke out at a shophouse at River Valley Road on Apr 8. They include construction workers, a private-hire driver and a doctor. A total of 22 people, including 16 children, were taken to hospital and a 10-year-old Australian girl subsequently died of her injuries.
