CNA Protesters in New Delhi demand for right to breathe as air quality plunges to ‘severe’ levels

Environment activists and citizens have taken to the streets of India’s capital, demanding the right to breathe. Tuesday’s anti-pollution protests — the second in as many weeks — come as millions in New Delhi face severe levels of pollution. Reports say the air is so toxic that breathing it is equivalent to smoking 10 cigarettes a day. On Tuesday, New Delhi’s air quality index stood way past the 400 mark — acceptable levels are under 50. Ishan Garg reports from New Delhi.
