CNA PM Lawrence Wong on financial fraud in Singapore

All financial centres have to deal with illicit money flows and it is not a problem unique to Singapore, said Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum on Wednesday (Nov 19) when asked about recent high profile financial fraud cases.

Mr Wong said that “there are bound to be suspicious transactions” but the key is what Singapore does.

“We are very stringent and we take swift action. We are determined to protect our reputation because that’s what keeps Singapore going.”
