CNA NS skills to be mapped into careers passport; allowances reviewed regularly

Skills gained during National Service will be formally recognised beyond service, with selected SAF training institutes starting a trial from the second half of this year.

Industry-relevant skills will be mapped in each serviceman’s Careers and Skills Passport, providing government-verified records to boost employability, said Senior Minister of State for Defence Zaqy Mohamad in parliament on Feb 27.

On calls to peg NS allowances to the Local Qualifying Salary, Mr Zaqy said allowances and salaries are fundamentally different, as NS is a civic duty in service of Singapore’s defence needs. #singapore #sgnews
