Nine Nominated Members of Parliament officially appointed in ceremony at the Istana

Newly appointed NMPs say that they will offer neutral views while representing the interests of the community. They promise to be bold and voice out issues, no matter how sensitive. Nine of them have been officially appointed in a ceremony at the Istana. President Tharman Shanmugaratnam presented them with the instruments of appointment. The fresh batch comprises eight new faces including academic Assoc Prof Terence Ho and Dr Neo Kok Beng, founder of NEO Aeronautics. The NMP scheme aims to ensure a wide representation of views in Parliament. There can be up to nine NMPs for each term, lasting two-and-a-half years.
