New programme trains youths to help seniors in hospital and community

Around 2,000 youths will receive medical training and volunteering opportunities through a three-year partnership between various youth organisations and Singapore General Hospital. The programme aims to support the ageing population while widening the pipeline of future healthcare professionals. Early trials show improved patient engagement and shorter hospital stays, particularly among seniors. Under the partnership, volunteers will assist both in hospital wards and community care settings, complementing the work of healthcare professionals. Chloe Teo reports.
