CNA Nepal election promises fail to stop youth exodus
Nepal goes to the polls next Thursday after months of youth-led protests over jobs and corruption. Unemployment among young Nepalese is the highest in the region and around 1,500 young people leave the country every day for foreign employment. Ahead of the election, leading political parties are vowing to create over a million jobs, but skepticism remains over whether those plans can be delivered. Many youths have blamed Nepal’s political parties for decades of instability through a merry-go-round of coalitions and elections.
