CNA Less self-initiated play experiences for children due to tech gadgets: SUSS
Children today are growing up with a screen within arm’s reach – for lessons, for play and for comfort. But in that always ‘on’ world, something else is getting squeezed out – unstructured, hands-on play. Research it helps to develop a child in various ways. In CNA’s ‘Back To School’ series, we ask how much play is enough? And in a society wired for results, is play quietly disappearing? Dr Rebecca Chan – Lecturer in Psychology and Child & Human Development at NIE, and Iori Chua – an ECDA-certified preschool educator joined us to discuss the issue.
