CNA Large sinkhole opens up on Melbourne field near tunneling project

Tunnelling works were paused after a giant sinkhole opened up on a sports field in Melbourne’s northeast on Monday (Jan 5).

The five-metre-deep sinkhole emerged near two tunnel boring machines working on the North East Link tunnel project, a major road infrastructure development. Australian transport officials said no injuries or property damage were reported.
