CNA Ilhan Fandi on Singapore’s comeback win against Hong Kong in Asian Cup qualifier

Ilhan Fandi, Singapore’s hero of the night, spent all of 28 minutes on the pitch against Hong Kong, but the impact he made was immense – creating the equaliser shortly after coming off the bench, and then scoring the winner in empathic fashion just minutes later.

The super sub had to be replaced after suffering an injury. But, as he told reporters while leaning on a crutch, he is “so happy” that Singapore qualified for the 2027 Asian Cup – and entirely on merit for the first time.
