CNA Holocaust memorial sites sound alarm on AI-generated images of the past

German concentration camp sites are sounding the alarm on a “massive flood” of AI-generated images quietly rewriting Holocaust history online.

Such images, which are created to drive clicks and advertising revenue, also run the risk of blurring the line between victims and perpetrators, slowly changing what is known to be true.

In response, a group of 49 memorial sites, museums and institutes have rallied together to call on platforms to clearly label AI-generated images and for internet users not to engage with such content.
