Golden monkeys seen as possible successor to panda diplomacy in Europe

Panda diplomacy has helped to revive the captive population of the giant panda. Now, there might be another candidate in line to play diplomat – the golden snub-nosed monkey. Belgian zoo Pairi Daiza is hosting three special guests, Liu Yun, Lu Lu and Juan Juan. They are part of a 10-year conservation loan programme from China, and the zoo sees them as ideal ambassadors in bridging cultural gaps. The Pairi Daiza is only one of two locations outside Asia where the monkey is being hosted. William Denselow reports from Brugelette, Belgium.
