CNA Floating power station? China tests world’s first airborne wind turbine

Not on land or at sea, this wind turbine hovers in the sky to capture wind for electricity generation.The world’s first megawatt-class high-altitude wind power system designed for urban deployment has completed a test flight in Sichuan, China.

The S2000 Stratosphere Airborne Wind Energy System (SAWES) floats 2,000 metres above ground, capturing stronger winds and sending electricity down via cables. During its test flight, it successfully connected to the power grid. #windturbine #china
