CNA Economic Strategy Review: Gan Kim Yong on key thrusts behind committee recommendations

Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong said the country faces “twin challenges”: sustaining growth in a tougher global environment, and ensuring growth still creates new and good jobs as automation and AI reshape work. He said Singapore will need deliberate strategies — building on its position as a trusted business hub, supporting enterprise development by anchoring and attracting companies that create jobs, and investing in human capital through skills upgrading so workers are “AI ready… job ready, and… future ready”.
