CNA Death toll tops 300 in Sri Lanka after Cyclone Ditwah; rising floodwaters force evacuations

Sri Lanka’s death toll from floods and landslides triggered by Cyclone Ditwah has risen above 300, the nation’s disaster agency said on Sunday (Nov 30). Nearly 400 people are missing, and more than 1.3 million across the island have been affected by the record rains, it added.

The country’s president declared a state of emergency on Nov 29 and appealed for international assistance, as over 24,000 police, army and air force personnel race to reach families stranded by the floods. #srilanka #srilankanews #cycloneditwah
