CNA Deadly winter storm hits US, affecting 220 million people and causing travel chaos

A massive winter storm – nicknamed “Firn” – has turned deadly, claiming lives in Louisiana, New York, and Texas. Nearly two-thirds of the US population, around 220 million people, are affected by this Arctic siege, with sub-zero temperatures as low as -45°C in New York.
Vast areas are buried under half a metre of snow, and over a million homes have lost power. At least 10,000 flights were cancelled on Sunday (Jan 25) alone, and travel disruptions continue. Authorities have declared weather emergencies in 17 states and Washington DC, urging people to stay indoors and avoid icy conditions. https://cna.asia/4bctAO6
