CNA Amnesty International warns of ‘huge risks’, ‘climate of fear’ at World Cup in the US
Millions of fans heading to the 2026 World Cup could face significant human rights risks, Amnesty International has warned.
With just over 10 weeks until kick-off, the human rights group said the United States — which will host most matches — is facing what it described as a “human rights emergency”, citing mass deportations, aggressive immigration enforcement and restrictions on protests.
Amnesty called on FIFA to use its influence with US President Donald Trump’s administration to ensure fans can attend matches without fear of arrest or deportation.
