CNA Air Canada crash: US safety agency says tracking system failed to alert

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) on Tuesday (Mar 24) said that a system used to track movement of aircraft and vehicles failed to alert during the deadly crash between an Air Canada Express jet and a fire truck at New York’s LaGuardia airport late on Sunday. Jennifer Homendy, chairwoman of the independent safety agency, added that there was no indication that fatigue was a factor among air traffic controllers during the incident and she also cautioned against claims of distraction.
Homendy also said that the NTSB is developing a timeline of events and added that that the truck did not have a transponder, unlike similar vehicles at other airports in the US. More details: https://cna.asia/4bJUlIp
