CNA Afghanistan seeks dialogue to resolve conflict as Pakistan declares ‘open war’
Afghanistan has said it is prepared to resolve conflict with Pakistan through talks, as both sides step up strikes and counterstrikes. Pakistan has declared an “open war”, launching airstrikes on Kabul and other parts of Afghanistan in response to what it calls an unprovoked attack on Thursday. Afghanistan has maintained that it acted in response to Pakistani airstrikes over the weekend, which the UN says killed more than a dozen civilians. The United Nations has warned that further escalation could shatter a fragile ceasefire. Hira Mustafa reports from Islamabad.
