Chinese premier calls for openness, free trade and innovation
At the opening ceremony of the China Development Forum 2026 in Beijing, Chinese Premier Li Qiang stressed that markets, though increasingly scarce, can still be created through openness and innovation. He warned against protectionism, saying it has never been a solution to global economic challenges, and called for expanding free trade and technological progress to unlock new growth opportunities.
