China discovers 100-million-tonne shale oil reserve in Sichuan Basin
China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) announced a major breakthrough in the Sichuan Basin, where the Qiluye-1 exploration well in Chongqing’s Qijiang District produced high-yield shale oil and gas flows. The find marks the discovery of a shale oil reserve estimated at over 100 million tonnes, signaling a new phase of energy exploration in southern China.
