Charlie Kirk: Man With Guns, Knives Caught At Memorial Service Venue Which Trump, Vance Will Visit
Security fears escalated ahead of Charlie Kirk’s memorial service in Arizona after an armed man was arrested outside the venue on September 19. Authorities identified the suspect as 42-year-old Joshua Runkles, who was found carrying a “loaded pistol, a revolver, and several knives”. According to court documents cited by The Washington Post, Runkles falsely claimed to be part of the security detail and even alleged links to Turning Point USA, Kirk’s conservative advocacy group. A Turning Point spokesperson later said Runkles was assisting a guest, while the Secret Service denied he was part of authorized law enforcement, stressing he was detained for suspicious behavior. Runkles was booked for impersonating a security official and carrying weapons at a prohibited location before being released on bond. The incident comes just before Sept 21 memorial service for Kirk, expected to be attended by Donald Trump, J.D. Vance, and senior officials, raising fresh concerns over event security.
