America’s era of discontent was nowhere more palpable than on the streets during Saturday’s “No Kings” protests. Large-scale protests swept across the United States on March 28, with demonstrators rallying against the US government’s policies, particularly on immigration enforcement and the war in Iran. Reuters reported that more than 3,200 events were planned across all 50 states, with significant turnouts in cities including New York, Washington, D.C., and Atlanta.

CGTN Stringer went to a New York rally to capture the voice of Americans. One message kept coming through loud and clear: “This is not the country I know.” The crowd’s ire was directed at the ruling class, who are “making themselves rich and America horrible.” As to foreign policy, that is “all about the money and controlling other countries’ resources,” attendees said. They called for “stopping this unjust and unnecessary war” to focus on issues at home, like the housing crisis.
