CGTN UNGA president stresses transparent reform and 2026 priorities
Annalena Baerbock, president of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), discussed ongoing United Nations reform amid political and financial pressure in an interview with CGTN Correspondent Xu Dezhi. She welcomed initiatives such as the Group of Friends of Global Governance and stressed the need for broader engagement by all 193 member states to strengthen multilateralism.
As the UN marks its 80th year and prepares for the upcoming selection of a new Secretary-General, Baerbock highlighted the importance of a transparent and inclusive process that reflects global diversity, reaffirming the UN Charter as essential in responding to conflict, humanitarian crises and global emergencies.
